She has been involved in the industry in multiple ways, including managing her son, Martin Starr, and other young actors. The skills she brings to the table are many which she eagerly shares to help you get to the next level in your acting career.

Jean had the fortune of being involved in an improvisational group now known as "The Groundlings." She enjoyed being in their first show and learned much during her involvement in the group. She loves being involved in the Alumni group sharing wonderful memories.
Jean St. James' Coaching Style
My number one goal as a coach is for my clients to feel confident and stay in the moment, wherever the scene goes. There is no "right" or "wrong," there is only your truth in each moment.
In my own acting experience, coaches have given me a perfect direction, but if it does fit me, it ends up a distraction. For example, if I miss that exact beat in my audition or on set, I realize it, and then I was no longer living the role in that moment because it didn't fit me.
So, I approach coaching as a collaboration. There are choices for each beat of the scene that can set you apart, but they only work if they are from YOU - from your heart and soul.
That's what I like to explore. Giving you other options and other choices to see what connects. They may propel the scene and your work to an interesting place, or they may not work. I will be the first to tell you when my ideas are not working! It's fine, and we find another choice.
That's how I work. I collaborate with you - with your heart and with your gut.

Audition taping
$1 per minute
30 Minute Minimum
The session lasts from the scheduled session start time until your audition is uploaded. The pricing is simple -
$1 per minute with a 30-minute minimum.
We do not charge extra for extra takes,
extra uploads
or for coaching and feedback.
When booking your session, be sure to include the time it will take to upload your audition.
1-on-1 coaching
$75 per hour
Jean can't help herself from coaching actors because it's always about the person and seeing them succeed. This is why she includes coaching as part of the Audition Taping.
She also loves to mentor and coach outside of an audition. Actors love working with her for her industry and acting experience. They also see the value of learning different styles of acting and learning the ropes in a complicated industry. Her insights are invaluable to seasoned and new actors.
